Vessel Donation Program
Dear Vessel Donor,
The U.S. Military Support Group offers a very unique program for individuals wishing to assist our Military Veterans Program by donating their vessel to our organization.
Our donation program is unique do to the fact that we retain ownership of the donated vessels, we upgrade them and make any necessary changes making them fully operational and then use them as support vessels for the Sound of Freedom Tour or lease/sell them to the public.
This vessel donation program allows our organization to receive a steady cash flow on an ongoing basis, which provides the much needed funding for our assistance programs.
As you may be aware, it is very important that you as a donor follow the proper steps for donations, listed below:
- Your vessel must have a recent fair market appraisal performed by a licensed marine appraiser, licensed yacht broker or other professional appraiser that is qualified to provide a proper fair market value.
- Upon receiving your vessel appraisal, you should discuss the donation with your CPA or financial advisor, so you are fully aware of any tax benefits that may be available to you.
- The selection of the non-profit is very important. It must have a current 501 (c) (3) status in good standing with the IRS and a use or lease program where your donated vessel is not immediately sold after your donation. Your fair market appraisal is protected by the non-profit using the vessel in their organizational programs.
- If the donor should receive any money, goods or services from the non-profit in conjunction with his donation, that value received by the donor will be deducted from the donation fair market value.
